Earlier this year Luke sat down with the folks of Contentmode to discuss all things Yellowstone – Taylor Sheridan’s writing, working with his TV family and more. Photographer Dylan Coulter took some absolutely beautiful photos of Luke for CM, Please take a look at his website as his work is just wonderful.

Did you and your on-screen family – Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, and Wes Bentley – do any special preparation to play the Duttons?

Preparation in acting can mean a lot of things. For example NOT meeting someone could be a form of it, Or spending three days in a tent with the guys playing your brothers could also. Taylor is aware of how to prepare his actors well.

You have worked alongside esteemed actors such as Julianne Moore, Bradley Cooper, Mary Steenburgen, Ellen Barkin, and Bruce Willis. What’s the most valuable piece of advice any of these veteran actors gave you?

That’s a good question. I think one of the most valuable lessons I learned from other actors was how they treated people on set. When you reach a certain level in your career, some people feel as though they can act however they want, without any regard of how it affects others and the mood of the whole project. I have learned that much of the creativity that comes out of a project is affected by how people in these top spots treat everyone. You mentioned Julianne Moore. She treated everyone with so much respect, was so beautiful to work with, and made everyone happy because her attitude was so great. Some of the other actors you mentioned were the same way. Bradley is also the nicest guy in the world. That is where I want my goal post to be.

We’ve added production stills as well as screenpcatures from last night’s episode of Yellowstone to the gallery.  If you have yet to watch the series, I highly recommend it. We’re only half way through this season but they’ve managed to pack the episodes with so much without over-doing it.  You can watch all of the episodes on Paramount Network’s site here, you may need a cable provider login as well as be in the United States.  Episodes are also available on iTunes, Googleplay & Amazon.  We have created an episode guide as well that can be seen here. Also be sure to check out our friends sites for the cast. You can see them in our sidebar under “Dutton Family”.

The Dutton family saga rages onward. Following record-setting viewership, the new Paramount Network today announced a second season of its hit series “Yellowstone.” Production will begin shortly on the 10-episode season which will be shot entirely on location in Utah and Montana. The season one finale bows Wednesday, August 22 at 10 PM, ET/PT, with season two premiering next year.

The critically acclaimed drama stars world-renowned Oscar® and Emmy® Award-winning actor Kevin Costner along with Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Danny Huston and Gil Birmingham.

“Yellowstone” chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States.  Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

Oscar® nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (“Wind River,” “Hell or High Water” and “Sicario”) returns as the showrunner and a writer for the series.

Executive producers for “Yellowstone” are John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner and David C. Glasser. Ted Gold and Lauren Ruggiero are the executives in charge of production for Paramount Network.

Following a record-setting debut that attracted 5.3 million viewers, the series now ranks as cable’s most-watched series behind “The Walking Dead.” Season to date, the series is averaging 5 million viewers and registering a 1.4 rating with P 18-49, 2.0 P 25-54 and 1.9 W 24-54.   New episodes premiere Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT only on Paramount Network. Full look at the season here

The success of “Yellowstone” marks the six-month-old network’s third successful scripted launch in a row. Back in January, the limited-series “Waco,” which scored three Emmy® nominations, premiered to the best ratings for an ad-supported cable drama debut in nearly six months. In June, the network’s first scripted-comedy “American Woman,” bowed to the highest P/W18-49 and W25-54 ratings for an ad-supported cable scripted half-hour series premiere since early January.
